- 1.Rinse the basmati rice under cold water until the water runs clear. This removes excess starch and prevents the rice from becoming sticky. Allow the rice to drain completely before cooking.
- 2.In a small saucepan, heat 1 tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil over medium heat. Add 1/4 teaspoon of turmeric powder and cook for about 30 seconds until fragrant. This step releases the turmeric's flavor into the oil.
- 3.Add the drained basmati rice to the saucepan, stirring well to coat the rice grains with the spiced oil. Continue stirring for another 1-2 minutes until the rice becomes slightly toasted and aromatic.
