Instructions
- 1.In a small skillet, heat the butter over medium heat until it melts and starts to bubble slightly. Add the ground turkey and break it apart with a spatula. Sprinkle the dried sage over the turkey and mix well. Cook for about 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the turkey is fully cooked and slightly golden.
- 2.Meanwhile, preheat a separate pan over medium heat. Spread a small amount of butter on one side of the sourdough bread to achieve a golden crust when toasted. Place the bread, buttered side down, onto the pan. Immediately sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese evenly on top of the bread.
- 3.Once the turkey is browned, use a slotted spoon to transfer it onto the cheese-covered bread, allowing the juices to drain as you do so to prevent the bread from getting soggy. Let the cheese melt and the bread toast for an additional 2-3 minutes, adjusting the heat if needed to avoid burning.
- 4.Use a spatula to carefully fold the bread over the filling, similar to a sandwich or omelet fold. Press down slightly to seal everything together. Cook for another 1-2 minutes until the bread is crispy and the cheese is fully melted. Keep an eye on the heat so the bread doesn’t scorch.
