    Start by thoroughly cleaning the button mushrooms using a damp cloth. Avoid washing them under running water as they can absorb it and become soggy. Slice the mushrooms evenly, aiming for about 1/4 inch thickness to ensure even cooking.

    In a small bowl, combine 2 teaspoons of white miso paste with 1 tablespoon of soy sauce. Mix until the miso is well dissolved. This mixture will serve as the umami-rich base of your sauté. If the paste is too thick, add a teaspoon of water to thin it slightly.
