Instructions
- 1.Begin by rinsing the jasmine rice under cold water until the water runs clear. Combine the rice with 1 cup of water in a small saucepan. Cover and bring to a boil over medium heat, then reduce to a simmer and cook for about 15 minutes until water is absorbed and rice is tender. Fluff the rice with a fork, then stir in the grated fresh ginger to infuse it with flavor. Turn off the heat and keep covered to maintain warmth.
- 2.While the rice is cooking, gently pat the tofu cubes dry using a paper towel to remove excess moisture. This will help in achieving a crispy texture when seared. Heat a non-stick skillet over medium-high heat and add the tofu cubes, turning occasionally until they are golden brown on all sides, about 8 minutes. Remove from the pan and set aside.
- 3.In the same skillet, reduce the heat to low and add 1 tablespoon of miso paste along with a splash of water to create a glaze. Stir quickly to dissolve the miso and prevent it from sticking. If the glaze is too thick, add a bit more water to reach a smooth consistency.
- 4.Return the tofu to the skillet and gently coat with the miso glaze. Cook for an additional 2 minutes, letting the tofu absorb the savory flavors while ensuring the glaze doesn’t burn—lower the heat if necessary.
- 5.To serve, place the ginger-infused rice on a plate and top with the miso-glazed tofu cubes. Ensure even distribution of both tofu and glaze for a balanced taste. Enjoy promptly for the best texture.
