Instructions
- 1.Begin by pressing the tofu to remove excess moisture. Wrap it in a clean kitchen towel and place a heavy pan on top for about 20 minutes. This will help achieve a firmer texture when cooking.
- 2.In a bowl, combine the soy sauce, lime juice, and freshly grated ginger. This mixture will serve as a marinade for the tofu, infusing it with flavor. Gently toss the tofu cubes in the mixture ensuring they're evenly coated. Allow them to marinate for at least 15 minutes, turning occasionally to soak up all the flavors.
- 3.Heat a non-stick pan over medium-high heat and add 2 tablespoons of sesame oil. Once the oil is shimmering, carefully add the marinated tofu cubes, spreading them out in an even layer. Cook for 3-4 minutes on each side, or until they develop a golden-brown crust. Keep an eye on them to prevent burning, as sesame oil can quickly reach high temperatures.
- 4.While cooking, occasionally toss the tofu cubes to ensure they are cooked evenly on all sides. If the pan starts to dry out, you can add a splash of water to prevent sticking and to create a light sauce.
- 5.After cooking, remove the tofu from the pan and let it cool slightly before serving. If desired, garnish with additional fresh lime juice for an extra zesty kick. Enjoy this protein-rich dish as a meal on its own or paired with steamed vegetables for a complete, satisfying meal.
