Instructions

  1. 1.
Begin by pressing the tofu to remove excess moisture. Place the tofu on a plate lined with paper towels and put a heavy pan on top for about 15 minutes. This step allows the tofu to crisp up better when cooked.
  2. 2.
Once the tofu is pressed, cut it into 1-inch cubes. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat, adding 1 tablespoon of olive oil. When the oil shimmers, add the tofu cubes in a single layer. Cook for about 5-7 minutes, turning occasionally, until all sides are golden brown and crispy.
  3. 3.
While the tofu is cooking, prepare the marinade by mixing the minced garlic, lime juice, soy sauce, and the remaining 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a small bowl. Stir well to combine.
  4. 4.
Once the tofu is golden brown, reduce the heat to medium and pour the garlic-lime marinade over the tofu. Stir to ensure all pieces are evenly coated. Cook for an additional 3-4 minutes, stirring frequently, until the sauce thickens slightly and the garlic becomes fragrant.
  5. 5.
Taste and adjust seasonings if necessary, adding a splash more lime juice or soy sauce to suit your preference. If the tofu sticks, add a little more oil or reduce the heat. Serve immediately for best texture and flavor.
